Starting a Blog during a Global Pandemic

On our list of things we’ve been meaning do to, starting a family blog has always been high on the list. It just never occurred to us we’d do so during an international crisis.

Maybe it’s our desire to stay connected to family and friends despite geographic distance. Or our natural desire as a family to entertain while others are stressed.

But here we are, on self-quarantine like everyone else. Good a time as any to start a blog, I guess.

Just me and my best friend ❤️

Who are we?

If you’re new here or don’t know our story, let me bring you up to speed really quick.

Kaylane and I (David) met at our church in Dallas. We started dating within the first week and got married the next year. And now we’ve been married for almost 15 years.

Look at how young and cute we are…both of us with fresh highlights in our hair!

We also have four kids which we homeschool. To answer the most common questions:

  • Yes, they were all planned
  • Yes, they all have the same dad
  • Yes, we know what causes it
  • No, we both insisted we’d never homeschool

We met, married, and had babies in Dallas, Texas and lived there happily ever after.

Until last year when…

We sold everything and moved to Cozumel, Mexico!

Yes for real.

Since then we’ve been living on a tropical island in the Caribbean and loving it. Kaylane misses Target and Schlotzsky’s. I miss GameStop and the Apple Store. Oh, and we miss friends and family. 😁

Here’s the video we did for our family and friends telling them why we were being so crazy and moving to Cozumel. Don’t get excited about that episode number though…we’ve been REALLY bad about updating our YouTube channel.

We had no clue 15 years ago that we’d end up here.

There’s more, but we can fill you in later on the details. That just brings you up to the Global Pandemic we’re currently in.

You know, the one where we thought, “Let’s start a blog!”
